Damn, I forgot about this Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) going on today. Ah well, it’s still an interesting read. And it’s GUILLERMO DEL TORO, folks.
Guillermo del Toro is a Mexican screenwriter, director, and producer whom I first remembered from the unique Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)–which both awed and creeped me out. In a good way. 🙂 Others might know him first from Hellboy (2004), or, more recently, Pacific Rim (2013).
His style is…addicting. The imagery is beautiful and haunting in their organic imperfections. A brush of horror (eyes in the palms mean anything to you? *shudders*) makes you crave for more. The colors are vibrant, symbolic, memorable. Course, it helps immensely when he has the melodic talents of Javier Navarette (Pan’s) and Ramin Djawadi (Pacific). Yea, I have both of those soundtracks. (Driving is infinitely more thrilling that way, dontcha know?)
For those who don’t know what an AMA (Ask Me Anything) is, it’s basically an online interview with a mod (sometimes) to help the interviewee type answers to questions submitted by any redditor during the interview’s allotted time.
Now as far as what exactly Reddit is…
It’s a bulletin board on the internet where people post up flyers they think are interesting, and everyone else stands around and discusses the content. If people like the content, they give a thumbs up of approval and more people notice the flyer.
–Definition reposted on Reddit threads too often to track the author
Oh, and there’s an affinity to cats.
If you’re a redditor (and it’s stupid easy to create an account), you can customize your front page. Helps root through the crazier/more aggressive in-fighting and reposts.
Good luck, eh?
